Grey Cairns of Camster

These two cairns (Camster Long and Camster Round), build from piles of beare pale stones near Watten in Caithness, are two of the finest neolithic monuments of their kind in mainland Scotland. The 60 m long Camster Long Cairn is the best example of a long-horned cairn in the country and has two chambers that can be accessed. Camster Round has a passage of 7 m long and a tripartite chamber with corbelled roof. Although I have visited this site a few times I have never been able to see it without strong rainfall; considering the lenght of the cairn and the weather, the photo is a bit vague.
